Downtown
Burbank turns into an open-air dance hall as thousands swing and jive
under the stars to live music at the third annual "Swingin' Sounds from
Downtown." This outdoor concert series produced by Downtown Burbank
Partnership Inc., consists of nine free nights of dancing to the tunes of
Southern California's leading bands. "Swingin' Sounds from Downtown"
happens on the AMC Walkway at Palm Avenue and San Fernando Boulevard,
Thursdays from July 6 to August 31. Special thanks to the Burbank
Collection for their sponsorship. Events
kick-off at 6:00 P.M., with free swing and salsa classes led by expert
instructors Francisco and Stacey of The Dance Family. Then participants
can dance the night away on the 6,000 square foot plaza, which includes a
professional dance floor. Bands strike up at 7:00 P.M. Concerts run for
approximately 2 ½ hours.
The series attracts thousands of all ages and dance
levels with a shared love of struttin' their stuff to swing, rumba,
boogie, or simply "do your own thing." This all-inclusive, no-attitude
dance event focuses on swing in July and broadens to a spiced-up salsa mix
in August.
