“12 DAYS OF HOLIDAY
CHEER” IN DOWNTOWN BURBANK |
Downtown Burbank launches more than 30 events, performances and activities in the Holiday spirit that occur over 12 days, from December 1 to 12 in the Downtown area. These activities, and the overall theme “12 Days Of Holiday Cheer,” are the result of a year-long collaboration of the City of Burbank, Burbank Town Center, IKEA and Downtown Burbank Partnership, Inc., to make the holidays come alive in the city. A majority of events are free to the public. Radio Disney AM 1110 has also joined “12 Days of Holiday Cheer” as radio sponsor. The series kicks off December 1 with the Mayor of Burbank’s Tree Lighting Ceremony at City Hall (Olive and Third Street in Downtown Burbank) with Burbank City Council, special guests Mickey & Minnie Mouse, and Santa. The first 100 attendees receive free hula-hoops in the spirit of the Downtown holiday “hula” graphic. After the tree lighting, Santa will stay until 8:00 P.M. to visit and have photos taken (parents are asked to bring their own cameras) while the Holiday Parade starts its journey. The parade follows the Magical Christmas Caroling Truck with more than 80 carolers who will spread holiday cheer all over Downtown Burbank until 9:00 P.M. Along the way, there will be live entertainment and giveaways, such as hot coffee & pastries at Starbucks, and Caribbean steel drum music on San Fernando Boulevard in front of Gordon Biersch Brewery 7:00 to 9:00 P.M. Other highlights include a Snow Day, December 4, with 15 tons of fresh snow for kids to romp in, as well as an ice sculptor, free live entertainment and refreshments. On December 5, the Burbank Community YMCA presents a holiday race called the Reindeer Run for 4-6 year olds ("Comets"), 7-9 year olds ("Dashers") and 10-12 year olds ("Blitzens") on San Fernando Boulevard between Magnolia and Orange Grove. Reindeer antlers, jingle bells and red noses are provided for all entrants. Burbank Town Center offers Pet Night with Santa, December 6, and Cartoon Network presents a free screening of "A Johnny Bravo Christmas” and The Powder Puff Girls' "Twas the Fight Before Christmas" holiday specials December 7. IKEA offers its live Christmas tree lot December 2 through Sunday, December 5, to benefit the Burbank Community YMCA Kids' Program, among many other events like Breakfast with Santa and the Holly Trolley Holiday Tour (both December 11) . For full details, please see the Schedule of Events below. SCHEDULE OF EVENTS WEDNESDAY, DECEMBER 1
