DOWNTOWN BURBANK NEWSLETTER - NOVEMBER 2006

With the holidays just around the corner, the Downtown Burbank Fine Arts Festival is the perfect place to purchase fine works of art at affordable prices. More than 100 artists, many of whom are award-winning and nationally known, will be exhibiting their unique creations for sale outdoors along San Fernando Boulevard between Magnolia and Olive Avenue in the heart Downtown Burbank, November 11 and 12 from 10:00 A.M. to 5:00 P.M. The Downtown Burbank Fine Arts and Chalk Festival is free and open to the public.

November's festival represents the first-ever expansion to three city blocks, up from two in previous shows. Growth is due to high demand from artists wanting to be included in the show, as well as the addition of other activities like street painters, pottery wheel demonstrations and live music. In just three years, the Downtown Burbank Fine Arts and Chalk Festival has emerged as one of the most successful outdoor art shows in the San Fernando Valley.

The festival is a wonderful opportunity for art enthusiasts to commission specific artworks for their home, ask questions about the creative process, or watch skilled artisans at work. All pieces are original, one-of-kind and hand-made by the artists, with nothing manufactured, imported or purchased for resale. All of the artists are scheduled to attend in person.

If you are an artist wanting to participate in the show, please call Ronda Mills at 818.709.2907 or apply via the internet at www.westcoastartists.com

DO YOU WI-FI?
Surfing the web in Downtown Burbank is as easy as 1-2-3. And best of all, it is free. All a customer needs is a laptop with a wireless card (most models built after 2002 have them already installed. Even without a built-in receiver, it is easy to buy and install a "wireless card" from any major computer store.) Downtown's Wi-Fi coverage area extends from the Holiday Inn to Burbank Boulevard, and from the Metrolink Station to Glenoaks. The hotspot offers many opportunities for users to access the Internet on laptops, notebooks, smart phones, personal digital assistants (PDAs) or hand-held game devices.

If you haven't tried using this latest step in computer technology, please check out the complete "how-to" on the Downtown Burbank website, www.downtown-burbank.org.
