20+ NEW BUSINESSES OPENED IN DOWNTOWN BURBANK IN 2007

We are pleased to announce that at least 20 new shops and restaurants opened for business in Downtown Burbank in 2006.  The list includes stores that opened at Burbank Town Center as well as throughout the district.  Already in 2007, we have two additions.  Loehmann’s opened earlier this month in the space formerly occupied by Virgin Megastore, and rA Organic Spa will officially open on March 10 in the space adjacent to Granville Gourmet Café (see story below.)

Please welcome each and everyone of these new stores to Downtown Burbank.  We are glad to have them in our bustling neighborhood!

rA ORGANIC SPA OPENS IN DOWNTOWN BURBANK
Downtown Burbank’s newest arrival is rA Organic Spa located at 119 N. San Fernando Boulevard, right next to Granville Café.  You’ve probably noticed the beautiful stonework exterior under construction over the past few months.  But just wait until you visit the inside, which is completely eco-friendly and boasts bamboo floors, natural stone, non-toxic paints and an array of inviting rooms with exotic names like the Zen, Aqua, Serenity and Garden suites.

Owner Chris Haas searched the Los Angeles region for nine months before landing in Downtown Burbank.  “I couldn’t help noticing all of the new businesses opening in the area, and how the district is evolving into a great downtown scene,” says Haas.  “Plus, demographics are some of the best around, with big lunch-crowds, strong evening traffic, and a good flow of people of all day.”

rA Organic Spa’s mission is to spread the word on the benefits of regular skin care and massage therapy.  Consequently, the spa focuses on facials, body wraps, herbal foot care, Traditional Thai massage, Swedish/Balinese massage and Shiatsu Deep Tissue massages.  Also, don’t miss their Organic Boutique, which features skincare products, bath and body, and unique gifts purchased both locally and around the world.

rA is anticipated to open the week of March 1, with a grand opening slated for Saturday, March 10 from 12 noon to 4:00 P.M.  For further information on rA Organic Spa, please call 818.848.4772 or visit www.raorganicspa.com

Summer Concerts – Thursday nights during July and August
Downtown Burbank turns into an open-air dance hall as thousands of eager dancers swing and jive under the stars to the best in live music.  This outdoor concert lasts for nine weeks on the AMC Walkway at Palm Avenue and San Fernando Boulevard.  Events kick-off at 6:00 P.M., with free swing and salsa classes led by expert dance instructors.  Once the band starts at 7:00 P.M., participants dance the night away on the outdoor plaza.

DO YOU WI-FI?
Surfing the web in Downtown Burbank is as easy as 1-2-3. And best of all, it is free. All a customer needs is a laptop with a wireless card (most models built after 2002 have them already installed. Even without a built-in receiver, it is easy to buy and install a "wireless card" from any major computer store.) Downtown's Wi-Fi coverage area extends from the Holiday Inn to Burbank Boulevard, and from the Metrolink Station to Glenoaks. The hotspot offers many opportunities for users to access the Internet on laptops, notebooks, smart phones, personal digital assistants (PDAs) or hand-held game devices.

If you haven't tried using this latest step in computer technology, please check out the complete "how-to" on the Downtown Burbank website, www.downtown-burbank.org.
