When the sun goes down, the screen will go up on Wednesdays from July 11 to August 15 starting at 5:00 P.M. as Burbank Town Center’s ever-popular summer outdoor movies returns for an encore presentation.  This year, it has a new name, but promises to bring the same old fun as before.  Called “Summer Nights at Burbank Town Center,” every Wednesday will become a dedicated block party featuring fun and games for the kids, and an array of vendors offering dinnertime treats for all. Then, as the stars come out, movies will begin.  Summer Nights at Burbank Town Center is presented by Burbank Town Center, the City of Burbank Park & Recreation Department and Downtown Burbank Partnership.

On opening night, Burbank Town Center will team up with Barnes & Noble to celebrate the highly-anticipated release of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, the 7th and final book in J.K. Rowley’s beloved series, and the fifth movie release, Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix. Festivities honoring all things “Harry” will begin at 5pm and culminate with Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire on the outdoor screen at 8:30pm.

Downtown Burbank will be do-wopin’ and a-rollin’ for a cure with The Alley Cats performing on the AMC Walkway, Sunday, April 22, 2007, from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., as the American Cancer Society’s volunteers kick-off  “Relay For Life Burbank.”

Relay for Life, coming June 23-24, 2007, to Robert Gross Park, is a high-spirited 24-hour team event where everyone in the community can join in the fight for cancer.  Relay for Life events are happening in communities all across the country and around the world.  Teams of up to 15 people will take turns walking and running around the track for a full 24 hours.  Before the event, they will collect pledges for their walk.  The event itself is like one big community party.

Come out and join us as for food and entertainment in the heart of Downtown Burbank at the AMC Walkway on Palm Avenue and San Fernando Road and learn more about how to get involved.  For more information, please contact Anita Dominguez, Community Development Manager at the American Cancer Society at (818) 841-2994 or visit www.acsevents.org/relay/ca/burbank .

DO YOU WI-FI?
Surfing the web in Downtown Burbank is as easy as 1-2-3. And best of all, it is free. All a customer needs is a laptop with a wireless card (most models built after 2002 have them already installed. Even without a built-in receiver, it is easy to buy and install a "wireless card" from any major computer store.) Downtown's Wi-Fi coverage area extends from the Holiday Inn to Burbank Boulevard, and from the Metrolink Station to Glenoaks. The hotspot offers many opportunities for users to access the Internet on laptops, notebooks, smart phones, personal digital assistants (PDAs) or hand-held game devices.

If you haven't tried using this latest step in computer technology, please check out the complete "how-to" on the Downtown Burbank website, www.downtown-burbank.org.
