celebrate the fact that a majority of former vacancies are now filled with
new retail and restaurants in the block between Magnolia and Palm Avenue
on San Fernando Boulevard, Downtown Burbank has planned a fun Ribbon
Cutting Ceremony and Block Party for Saturday, February 5 at 11:00 A.M.The ceremony will include the Mayor of Burbank, Burbank City Council members and other local dignitaries. A ribbon cutting will officially welcome the newest five tenants, Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory, Quiznos Subs, Chadaka Thai, O My Sole and Active, but the ceremony acknowledges the amazing transformation of the entire block. Enjoy live music, a festive atmosphere and free giveaways by merchants! 2005 DOWNTOWN BURBANK EVENT SCHEDULE 2005 marks
the first full year of event programming from January to December and sees
the return of 2004’s most popular activities, like the Summer Music Series
on the AMC Walkway Thursdays in July and August, “Taste of Downtown
Burbank” in September, “Downtown Burbank Fine Arts and Chalk Festival” (this year
scheduled twice!) and “12 Days of Holiday Cheer.” It also includes new
promotions like the “I © Downtown Burbank” Valentines campaign and others
to be announced. Also planned this year are the grand openings of the Senior Artist Colony residential complex on Verdugo and San Fernando; the opening of Burbank Civic Plaza, the new mixed-use office and retail complex on Olive and Third, and Burbank Village Walk, the residential and retail complex at Angeleno and San Fernando. I Love Downtown Burbank -- Monday, February 14, 2005 Valentine’s Day event with Downtown restaurants, Universal Music Group and AMC Theaters -- see article above. Downtown Burbank Fine Arts and Chalk Festival -- Saturday and Sunday, June 11-12, 2005 A two-day outdoor exhibition and sale of art by 90 leading commercial artists, designers, photographers, sculptors, ceramicists and jewelers selected from workshops across California and the Southwest. All work is original, one-of-kind and executed by the artists themselves, with nothing manufactured, imported or purchased for resale. The Downtown Burbank Fine Arts Festival returns November 12 and 13, 2005. Summer Concerts -- Thursday nights in July and August -- 6:00 -9:00 P.M. Eight nights of dancing outdoors on the AMC Plaza to the tunes of Southern California’s leading live bands every Thursday in July and August. Events kick-off at 6:00 P.M. with free dance classes and/or games. Bands strike up at 7:00 P.M. Concerts run for approximately 2 hours and are free and open to the public. Outdoor Picture Show -- Wednesday nights, June 29 – August 17 One of Burbank’s most popular events returns for its fourth season Wednesday nights in June, July and August. Screenings occur on IKEA Plaza and are free and open to the public. Taste of Downtown Burbank -- Thursday, September 29 Downtown Burbank’s salute to the culinary arts returns for a second helping Thursday, September 29 from 5:00 P.M. to 9:00 P.M. Last year’s festival saw more than 20 Downtown restaurants participating, and many happy food lovers. Also featured will be live entertainment and family oriented activities. Proceeds benefit the Burbank Community YMCA. Booo-tiful Downtown Burbank -- Halloween day, October 31 Downtown Burbank celebrates Halloween with Booo-tiful Downtown Burbank, a community event for children that is scheduled earlier on All Hallows Eve to allow families the opportunity to trick-or-treat before it gets too dark or too late in the evening. Children and families who visit Downtown Burbank’s shops and restaurants will enjoy Halloween with treats from participating merchants, 4:00 to 7:00 P.M. Downtown Burbank Fine Arts and Chalk Festival -- November 12-13, 2005 (Second scheduled occurrence in 2005. See June event for description.) 12 Days of Holiday Cheer --December 1-12 Downtown’s biggest festival heralds the holidays with fun activities for twelve days and nights ranging from events at IKEA, to Burbank Town Center, to the City of Burbank’s Mayor’s Tree-Lighting ceremony, to Downtown Burbank’s many merchants and restaurants offering events, freebies, special appearances, live music and choirs, and such family fun as a snow day and reindeer run. |
